An internship is:
  • An on-site work experience directly related to career goals and/or fields of interest.
  • Supervised, emphasizing learning and professional development.
  • Evaluative, providing a system for feedback and communication.


I Define internship as the process which has the potential to transform the lives of Young Achievers by mentoring them, training them, giving them exposure and most importantly installing a New Zeal in them about themselves.


Why Should You Do An Internship?



1. To gain experience - You lack experience and this is the only way to get it. The best experience comes from internships because you get to do a bit of everything!

2. It allows you to apply classroom knowledge in real life situations – Internships give you a way to utilize your knowledge base, and expand it, by applying it in situations where the outcome is not the number of marks you score in an exam but something that could affect a whole company.

3. Gain the ability to put new things into practice - You can try out new skills and tools without the pressure of being wrong. Internships are a time to experiment, and people who hire you for that internship know that.

4. It opens many doors – Your mentor at the previous internship might put in a word for you with your next employer because she happens to know her. Likewise, an internship could open many doors for you.

5. To get a feel for different industries - Internships are usually for 3-6 months. This allows you to get a feel for different industries in a small period of time. If you spend 3 months in PR then 3 months in marketing, you get to know the difference in content, how they work and why they work.
